Dimensions: Approximately 9 cm (H) x 6.5 cm (W)
Wheel-thrown in a white grogged stoneware, this pot was reduction-fired for fourteen hours to 1290ºC in my self-built gas kiln. Its glossy finish draws its character from the iron traces in the red clay in the glaze, whose colour naturally varies with the melt, showing soft blue tones where the glaze melts into a glass and occasionally light crystallisation from the slow cooling process.
Fired hot enough to fully vitrify, the clay body is now completely watertight. While highly durable, the edges can still chip if handled roughly, so care is advised.
Each piece is unique, celebrating the charm of handmade ceramics. Slight variations may occur between pieces; each piece has been photographed individually on this shop.
