Wood Fired Moon Jar

£165.00
sold out

Dimensions: Approximately 17 cm (H) x 14 cm (W)

Wheel-thrown in gorged grey stoneware, this moon jar was wood-fired for 60 hours up to 1290ºC in the Oxford Anagama Kilns. Its surface is entirely a product of the kiln’s atmosphere: the piece was rested on its side and supported by clam shells, which have now left their marks on the pot. The interior is lined with a celadon glaze.

Fired hot enough to fully vitrify, the clay body is now completely watertight. While highly durable, the edges can still chip if handled roughly, so care is advised.

Each piece is unique, celebrating the charm of handmade ceramics. Slight variations may occur between pieces; each piece has been photographed individually on this shop.
