Wheel-thrown in a rich iron stoneware, this pot was reduction-fired for fourteen hours to 1290ºC in my self-built gas kiln. The glaze is made from ground granite, whose naturally occurring iron traces produce a pale olive-green colour, while iron flecks in the clay body create a soft freckled effect. The dish has a fluted pattern that encourages the glaze to pool in the grooves and break along the edges.
The dish is food and dishwasher safe, though hand washing is recommended to preserve its finish. While durable, the edges can chip if handled roughly, so care is advised.
